THE WATER COINS
Redesigning Ann Siang Hill Park

The design puts emphasis on two elements which are known to pave the way for prosperity - Water and Coins.
Water is a symbol for prosperity and power. Most important infrastructure as well as development investments from ancient times until today, are related to water. In Feng Shui, the water element represents good fortune, growth and prosperity. Still water attracts wildlife, awakening and enlivening the good energy.
Coins have a long history of bringing good luck. They are an obvious symbol of prosperity and wealth. If one believes in superstition, it offers financial benefits. Symbolic meaning of money also deals with value and power. A coin has a symbolism to circle i.e, wholeness.
Water and Coins are both a form of energy. The idea is to create vibes through a structure which would allow the city dwellers to prosper and secure a financially stable future for themselves.
Ann Siang Hill Park is a sloping garden and the highest geographical point in Chinatown, Singapore. It is located in the heart of the city making it an important landmark. The project involves remodelling of the park into a design which is more creative and interesting than the existing one. Module: Design Studio Year: 2017.
ABOUT ANN SIANG HILL PARK
Ann Siang Hill is located in Chinatown within the Outram Planning Area in Singapore. It is a quite enclave amid the hustle bustle of Chinatown, surrounded by brightly coloured shop houses which helps to gain insight into the live's of Singapore's early immigrants.
The Hill got it's name from Chia Ann Siang, a wealthy Mallaca born merchant who's estate was located over there. Now it is a place to go for a nice walk and look out for different tree species particularly, tamarind, cinnamon, nutmeg and breadfruit trees. Also one can enjoy a good meal and drinks with their friends at the famous P.S Cafe.

INSPIRATION - THERMAL POOLS OF PAMUKKALE
Pamukkale is a natural site in Denizli Province in Southwestern Turkey. The city contains hot springs and travertines, terraces of carbonate minerals left by the flowing water. The ancient Romans discovered the therapeutic powers of Turkey's thermal springs. The unique geological site consists of 1000 thermal springs which offers the ultimate relaxation and spa experience. Also, health benefits offered by the springs has been renowned since antiquity. The temperature of these hot springs varies between 20 - 110 degrees Celsius, and their flow is between 2 - 500 litres per second. The stepped structure of the carbonate deposits makes the place look unique and a famous tourist destination. The thermal spa has been very influential to my design.
